My lady wants a brand new bag!

I vividly remember walking in Paris last summer and being drawn to this woman with a Valentino bag decorated with little leather flowers. So what is it about bags? I don’t believe bags (whether it is a clutch, a shoulder bag, a tote or a travel bag) are as important to an outfit as for example the right pair of shoes. Obviously an ugly bag can dramatically unbalance the harmony in your outfit, whereas a beautiful bag completes your look, but nevertheless I don’t believe a handbag is vital to create a decent appearance. All together it is important that a woman should have at least one presentable day bag to go to work. Something that is gracious yet practical, a bag that allows you to just throw in all your stuff whilst still being proper enough to go into an appealing boutique during lunch break. Owning a clutch for evening parties is equally important. It is always fun to go to a fancy cocktail party and wearing an eye-catching yet delicate (delicate is important, you don’t want to be seen wearing a pineapple like bag that appears to be covered in glitter) clutch just to complement your look and to make you stand out. Today I will share with you a selection of bags I found at net a porter. Some of the selected bags I find superb, others I find a little less attractive. My lady wants new shoes!

In the first place I post this entry for my best girl because I know how much she adores high heels (and owns many pairs of them herself, and I can honestly say I don’t know anybody who can walk high heels as well as she does). But secondly, I share with you these pictures because I’m a high heel devotee myself. I wouldn’t know where to start, nor to end, to try to express my love for these fashionable objects. That’s why I’m not going to. The best things in life we can not describe. In fashion the first thing that counts is obviously what you wear to cover your body, so my first love will always go out to the garment (whether it is about an evening dress, a pencil skirt, a beautifully cut jacket, palazzo pants…), but the shoes do so compliment the designs, they complete the look. A beautiful garment with hideous shoes will never work, nor will it the other way round. I will never forget the first time I went into Lafayette Paris and touched a pair of Dior Gladiator platform shoes (not the Carrie Bradshaw one’s, it was way before 2008). It is only when you have been able to handle a high heel and have had the opportunity of admiring a woman perfectly walking in them that you can truly comprehend the magic of high heels. Therefore I give you this little selection of shoes that are available at Net a Porter.
