Rihanna, original name Robyn Rihanna Fenty (born February 20, 1988) defends an attack from a critic who said that Rihanna's music video "Man Down" should be stopped as it has a violent scene. Paul Porter, co-founder of Industry Ears, which campaigns against negative images in the media argued, "If Chris Brown shot a woman in his new video and BET premiered it, the world would stop. Rihanna should not get a pass." Porter described the video's violent scene as "a cold, calculated execution of murder in prime time."

Rihanna has fired back at critics of her new music video, "Man Down," saying that the clip, which depicts a victim of a sexual attack gunning down her assailant, is empowering. The watchdog group the Parents Television Council earlier this week called the video "disturbing," adding that "a graphic portrayal of the singer getting back at an attacker by shooting him in cold blood in a crowded train station and then fleeing the scene is potentially the worst possible message that could be sent."
The 23 year old singer responded via Twitter, "We have the freedom to make art, LET US! It's your job to make sure they don't turn out like US. "I'm a 23 year old rock star with NO KIDS! What's up with everybody want in me to be a parent? I'm just a girl; I can only be your/our voice!"
The singer continued, "Cuz we all know how difficult [and] embarrassing it is to communicate touchy subject matters to anyone especially our parents, and this is why! Cuz we turn the other cheek! You can't hide your kids from society, or they'll never learn how to adapt! This is the REAL WORLD!"

The R&B and pop singer, who has herself been the victim of assault by then-boyfriend Chris Brown, said that she did not "go into it to make a controversial video." "I personally don't condone violence or murder," Rihanna said. "I've been abused in the past and you don't see me running around, killing people in my spare time. I just want girls to be careful." She might think it to be a alarm to stimulation to the introvert, "If I can be a voice for so many that aren't heard, then I win twice. Look at how it's affecting people. Girls are empowered by this. It's easy to turn it into something negative but I'm just really impressed that my fans get it. This is a story for them. It's not for the critics."
Rihanna who is R&B (Rhythm and Blues), was born in Saint Michael, Barbados and at the age of 16 he moved to USA to pursue a recording career under the guidance of record producer Evan Rogers. She is also a songwriter, executive producer, video director, philanthropist, author, actress. She released her first album 'Music of the Sum' which peaked the top ten of the Billboard 200 chart in 2005.
