Fashion gives back.

Because of last year’s enormous success Christie’s will organise a second Annual Green Auction. The aim is to engage more and more artistic and philanthropic communities, to raise awareness about protecting the future of our planet and to support more not-for-profit-organisations such as Central Park Conservancy, Conversation international, Oceana and Natural resources defence council. Therefore a Green Auction by Christie’s and a Runway to Green’s Fashion show will be held on the 29th of March in NYC.

“The world's top international collectors, philanthropists, celebrities, and designers will convene at New York City's Rockefeller Center for a star-studded evening of entertainment, live fantasy Green Auction by Chrisite's, and Runway to Green's fashion show debuting Fall 2011 ready-to-wear ensembles and accessories from 20 of the worlds leading designers.”

Christie’s “bid to save the earth” will offer people the change to put in money one several once-in-a-lifetime experiences, like spending a special day with President William J. Clinton, meeting Marc Jacobs, with two VIP tickets to his New York Fashion Week fashion show and after party, taking a flight with Harrison Ford in his personal aircraft, with round-trip airfare to Los Angeles, four nights at The Ritz Carlton, and commemorative keepsakes, flying to Paris for the full Chanel Couture Experience, including: front row tickets to Chanel's 2011 Couture Show, meeting with Karl Lagerfeld, a private tour of Coco Chanel's apartment, a free handbag and stay five nights at The Ritz-Carlton, meeting Lady Gaga backstage in Miami and stay three nights at Soho House Miami, a style consultation with Vogue's André Leon Talley and Diane Von Furstenberg and much more…

In partnership with Christie’s a spectacular soiree, Runway to Green, will be held by Francois-Henri Pinault, Salma Hayek, Susan and David Rockefeller, Jr., Graydon and Anna Carter, and of course Vogue. To raise money for the environment Runway to Green has partnered with brands like Gucci, Prada, Balenciaga, Burberry, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg, Manolo Blahnik, Oscar de la Renta, Stella McCartney, Jason Wu and Alexander Wang. Designers have to create a new piece that will join their latest fall/winter 2011-2012 collection. The garments (ready to wear ensembles and accessories) will exclusively be for sale at Net-a-Porter before hitting the stores. A percentage of the proceeds will go to environmental organisations (Alliance for Climate Protection, United Nations Environment Programme's Billion Tree Campaign and the Natural Resources Defense Council) that collaborate with the Runway to Green project. The participating designers will take the appropriate steps and make the necessary efforts to “green-up” their own businesses and to guarantee an eco-friendly approach in creating their collections.
