As usual the city that never sleeps delivered a wide variety of styles throughout its fashion week. Thankfully, because you know what they say, variety is the spice of life. Classical yet feminine and highly detailed designs (made of) consisting of the best of fabrics graced the catwalk at Carolina Herrera, Oscar De La Renta and Ralph Lauren. Jason Wu styled his models embracing the female forms but with a more modern approach and his own quirky touch. Naeem Khan and Marchesa created very powerful red carpet looks for yet another season with the latter showing (more than usual) very fierce forms. Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez showed a very ethnic collection with strong lines and lots of motives, softened by the use of velvet and suede fabrics. Victoria Beckham and Michael Kors went on with a rather simplistic/minimalistic (Kors’ strength) tour which turned out great for the two designers. Especially Victoria Beckham seems to be growing in her job as fashion designer. It feels like she’s systematically taking more and more risks, and stepping away from the initial corset-dresses which is a very refreshing trend. The silhouette is definitely changing. Next on the schedule is London .
