Cannes Film Festival 2011: Red Carpet Part One.

The Cannes Film festival is besides the excellent movies also well known for its red carpet filled with stunning couture. I realise that the festival started some days ago and in some way it’s a little scandalous that I haven’t posted anything on these years looks. But it has all been so hectic the last couple of days that I just couldn’t find the time. Initially I decided to just write a post at the end of the festival covering all the best red carpet looks, but the urge is just too strong so I'm going to show you some striking outfit choices from the first days at the festival without further delay.

Gong Li in Roberto Cavalli.

Salma Hayek in Gucci Première.

Diane Kruger in Calvin Klein.

Fan Bing Bing in up till know still unknown.

Rachel McAdams in Marchesa.

Uma Thurman in Versace.

Cheryl Cole in Stéphane Rolland Couture.

Fan Bing Bing in Elie Saab Couture.

Mia Wasikowska in Roland Mouret.

Rachel McAdams in Monique Lhuillier.

Jane Fonda in Emilio Pucci.

Fan Bing Bing in Atelier Versace.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Elie Saab.

Tilda Swinton in Haider Ackermann.

Some thoughts: I think Diane Kruger looks like she has slept with the dress, just woke up and dragged herself to the red carpet. Which is a pity because normally she looks radiant. I'm not much of fan of the dress either, but it is striking. It looks like Cheryl Cole has golden mussels attached to her dress, and she's showing way too much cleavage. Sarah Jessica looks thinner than the model, or is it just me? Either way she does look good in that gown. Last but not least, I think Tilda Swinton's look has the most potential, because it's Haider Ackermann and because it's Tilda. But she should have worn the runway version, and it should have been a little more fitting. I'm glad she opted for real high heels... What about the rest of the looks?
